“Investing in a high quality early childhood education program bestows benefits that last a lifetime for your child, their community and the future of the world we live in. We would be honored to partner with you and your child in this exciting journey of discovery and learning.”
With over 30 years of experience in Early Childhood Education, Cindy is actively committed to the community, and to the children and families they serve. Cindy ensures that Sunnyside is offering the best, developmentally appropriate instruction, meeting and exceeding standards and striving for excellence in early education that prepares children for kindergarten entrance and academic success throughout their school years. She has created and implemented a balanced, enriched curriculum at Sunnyside to support early learning in all areas of development for children ages three to six. This program excellence has resulted in Sunnyside Preschool as a three-time award winner in the KING 5 BEST of WESTERN WASHINGTON.
Cindy is very knowledgeable and dedicated to her profession that also has included parent education and training educators. Her instruction has been offered in college level classes and at various other workshops, seminars and county and state conferences. Currently, Cindy serves on the board of the Lake Stevens Education Foundation. She has also served on the board of directors for the Lake Stevens Chamber of Commerce, coordinated Business Roundtables for Snohomish County councilmen, and was a prominent leader in the Risk Watch Safety Coalition for the Lake Stevens School District. While serving two years as vice president for KidsDream of Snohomish County, Cindy coordinated two successful fundraising galas to fulfill the needs and dreams of abused and neglected children.
Cindy has been awarded a Child Development Associate (CDA) by the Council for Early Childhood Education Professional Recognition in Washington D.C. acknowledging her outstanding work with young children and served five years on the board for the Snohomish County Association for the Education of Young Children (SCAEYC) the local affiliate of the national group (NAEYC). As the nation’s largest group of professionals dedicated to ensuring high quality, developmentally appropriate programs for children, Sunnyside abides by NAEYC’s standards. Cindy won BECU’s ‘Outstanding Volunteer of the Year’ award in recognition of her time and dedication to KidsDream and many other organizations in the community. For this, she was given the honor to throw out the first pitch (a perfect strike!) at a Seattle Mariners game against the Boston White Sox. In addition, the National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA) International awarded Cindy the prestigious Rolf H. Jenson ‘Partners in Public Education’ award at the World Safety Congress for positive outcomes of life-threatening situations and implementing a successful fire and life safety education program for children in the Lake Stevens School District in collaboration with Snohomish County Fire District. This was accomplished through much community outreach and education, as well as winning grants and community fundraising. Two other national awards received by Sunnyside Preschool preceded this award. The school’s community outreach has also supported the Lake Stevens Education Foundation, L.S. Family Center’s back to school drive and Christmas giving, local food banks and new clothing donations, Providence Medical Children’s Center, the Forgotten Children Foundation, and various others.
