Art Class

Artist, teacher and well renowned children’s book illustrator, Kristi Petosa-Sigel from Kailua, Hawaii, will be at Sunnyside Thursday, July 14th during Aloha Week of Summer Camp!

Kristi will be facilitating a one-day, one-hour, story and art class immediately following camp that day, teaching the medium of oil pastels and water color. It is suited for ages 4-7.

A message from the illustrator:

I am passionate about art! As an artist it is my passion that has made me a successful commercial artist and illustrator for over 30 years. My curiosity has created diversity within my work enabling me to work with a variety of mediums using traditional and digital techniques. It is with that same passion that I teach art.

My theory on art is that my students can do anything, this message has been displayed prominently at the front of my classroom. For the past 18 years I have been the art teacher at Ka`ohao Elementary School in Kailua, Hawaii. I believe that it’s not always about the finished piece of art but the journey and the experience of the creative process. As a teacher I am there to guide the students and give them the tools to understand the basics of art. Once they learn the basic skills they begin to discover their own endless creative potential.

I look forward to creating art with your children!
Aloha,
Kristi
